#Excel Short and Sweep Tip #11 (Most Frequent Item in Column) by David Hager

Have you ever had the need to return the most frequent item from a column range? The item can either be a number or a string. To do this, use the following formula.

=INDEX(ListRange,MODE(MATCH(ListRange,ListRange,0)))

where ListRange is a single column range.
